The Miele s558i "Silver Moon" is the "crème de la crème" of the
s500i series vacuum cleaners. The electronic controls for both the
machine and the power nozzle, as well as power adjustment, are at
one's fingertips, located in the handle of its hose. There is no
longer any need to bend over to change settings as one moves from
the carpets to bare floors and onward to furniture, drapes and curtains.
All of the electrical connections are intergrated into the wand
and hose leaving no external or visible wires.
The cleaner comes with one's choice of either the SEB 217-2 electric
power nozzle or the more aggressive SEB 226 electric power nozzle
(not recommended for delicate carpet or rugs). Because the control
for the power nozzle is located in the hose handle, one can move
from carpet to bare floor by simply turning off the power nozzle,
allowing it to clean bare floors at the flip of a switch. Additionally,
a softer "parquet" floor tool comes with the machine for use on
more delicate flooring surfaces. A dusting brush, crevice and upholstery
tools store under the push button tool lid. Because the hose and
wheels all rotate a full 360 degrees the vacuum moves easily in
any direction, without tipping over, and the wheels are a soft rubber
so they will not mark floors. The cordwinder has an added feature
known as "auto-reverse". When the user activates the "auto-reverse"
function, the cord releases from the machine as it is pulled away
from the outlet and rewinds back as the vacuum returns. The result
is no excess cord on the floor while vacuuming.
The machine will operate in a "stand-by" mode, which allows it
to be turned off as one "parks" the wands on the machine. Removing
the wands from their "park" position then restarts the unit automatically.
The Miele active charcoal HEPA filter is already installed and with
its completely sealed system, 99.97% of all particles as small as
0.3 microns are retained within the unit, not returned to the air
within your home.
